GREENSBORO Mrs. Patsy Dean Williamson Hoffman, formerly of Greensboro, died peacefully at Coble Creek Healthcare of Twin Lakes on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. She was a native of Burlington, NC, born on December 21, 1924 to Fred Hurley Williamson and Lela (Polly) Ann Kinney Williamson, both deceased. Her brother, Dr. H.G. Williamson (Col. Retired US Army), also predeceased her. She was married to Harry Burnette Hoffman of Greensboro in 1951. They had one daughter, Natalie Jane Hoffman. Harry died in 1977 and Jane in 2000. Patsy continued living in Greensboro and became quite an active volunteer. She continued a long term service to the American Red Cross. She began in the nurse's aid program under ARC in 1942, at the start of World War II. Recently, she had been given a service award from the Greensboro Chapter (Piedmont) for over seventy years volunteer service. She served on the local board and was well known for her monkey bread she brought to board meetings. Patsy is survived by two sisters, Shirlie Williamson Baxter of Elon and Jane Williamson Hogan of Greensboro. Patsy began hospice volunteer service in both Burlington and Greensboro. A few years ago, she felt the call to join Cone Health as a volunteer at Women's Hospital. She loved to knit newborn baby caps for new babies born at the hospital. It was as joy for her to greet grandparents and siblings as part of her volunteer assignments. Patsy and daughter Jane were gourmet cooks. They loved to host special parties for brides, kids and family events. Patsy was the baker, Jane the decorator. Patsy loved her dogs. In her later years, she loved service yorkies as companions. A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held in the chapel of Forbis and Dick N. Elm Street on Saturday, December 31, 2016, with visitation following the service.
