Ralph Cox Obituary

REIDSVILLE RALPH STANLEY COX, 75, OF 9634 Scarborough Court, Summerville, SC, and formerly of Reidsville, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Sandy Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.Ralph was born in Rockingham County to the late Paul and Jessie Leake Cox. He attended Happy Home, Sadler and Ruffin High School. He was a true blue UNC Tarheel and loved NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Richard Petty and 55 Chevrolets. He retired from Sears Roebuck, where he enjoyed working for over 37 years and made many lifelong friends. He loved yard work and spending time in his workshop. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances Cox of the home; daughters, Michele Adkins and husband, Andrew, Beth Blango and husband, Dwayne; grandchildren, Isaiah Perdue, Greyson Perdue and Sophia Blango; father of grandsons, Rex Perdue; sister, Betty Krites; brother-in-laws, Jerry Garrett and wife, Carol Lynn of Fairhope, AL, Jean Garrett and wife, Virginia of Raleigh, Paul Garrett and wife, Sandy of Reidsville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The family would like to give special thanks to nurses, Desiray and Gloria at Coleman Health Center in the Village at Summerville for their gentleness and loving care and to Molly Taylor of Reidsville for her loving care during Ralph's journey. Special gratitude for the care and family guidance of Betty Fahl is beyond appreciation during the end of Ralph's ten-year journey with Parkinson's disease. Hospice of South Carolina, directed by Vickie Brown, made a heartbreaking struggle much easier.
