Richard (Dick) Malcolm Gibson, beloved husband, father, brother and uncle passed away on January 21, 2024, in Guilford County, North Carolina. He was born on December 13, 1952, in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Richard was 71 years old at the time of his passing. Richard's educational accomplishments were impressive. He obtained a Double Bachelor's Degree from NC State in Textile Chemistry and Textile Colorist. Richard dedicated his professional life to the Specialty Textile Sales Industry, where he achieved great success, eventually retiring with honor. During his career, he earned two patents, showcasing his innovative spirit and remarkable talent. His career led him to world travels where he made lifelong friends. Richard had a wide range of interests and passions. He deeply loved everything related to NC State, "Go Pack". He was an avid reader and found great joy in exploring World War II history. He also was an talented golfer and enjoyed playing with family and friends. Richard is survived by his soulmate and loving spouse of 30 years, Nancy Gibson, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves behind his daughter Julia Gibson and his stepdaughter Jessica Potts. Richard cherished his four-legged companions, Roxanne and Lucy, who brought joy and laughter into his life. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Gibson Addison, and his brother, Robert Walker Gibson (Patsy). Richard will be missed dearly by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he touched.

A visitation to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at The Barn at Summerfield Farms located at 3203 Pleasant Ridge Road, in Summerfield, NC 27358 at 3 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the NC Textile Foundation at 1020 Main Campus Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606, to the attention of Donna Grant. Contributions can also be made to the Julian Gibson Elementary School Foundation, honoring Richard's late father. Richard Malcolm Gibson will forever be remembered for his infectious southern charm, kind heart, and generous spirit. May he rest in eternal peace.
