MAYODAN Robert Charles "Bob" Vanderwedge, 86, left his earthly home Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Beacon Place. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Madison United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Bob was born in Wayland, NY on June 7, 1931. He was a retired insurance salesman. He attended the Madison United Methodist Church. He loved nature, gardening, fishing, bird watching. He was an excellent cook and was a skilled craftsman. Survivors include his companion, Paige Hughes Carlton; daughters, Cindy (John) Thompson, Carol (William) Acomb, and Judy (Steve) Cowit; sister, Ann Forbach; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Beacon Place, 2502 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403. Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family. Condolences may be offered at www.colonialfh.net.
