Ruby Hannon Smith

SILER CITY RUBY HANNON SMITH, born July 21, 1923, died at UNC Memorial Hospital after a brief illness on September 23, 2014. Mrs. Smith resided at 2475 Coleridge Road.Mrs. Smith was born in Randleman, North Carolina, the daughter of Mattie Lula Crutchfield and William David (W. D.) Hannon. She was a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Ramseur. She was a member of the Rehobeth UMW and a former member of the Brush Creek Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Smith Eggleston and husband, Floyd of Whitsett; a son, John Darrell Smith of Siler City; brother, John P. Hannon of Scottsdale, Arizona; granddaughter, Amy Eggleston Davis and husband, Jeffrey and great-grandchildren, Carter, Braedon and Maddy Davis of Richardson, Texas; grandson, Mike (Carrie) Eggleston and a great-grandson, Chris (Katie) Eggleston of Colorado and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. Smith; a sister, Faye H. Brower, and a brother, Thomas Hannon, along with three half-brothers, Marco, Odell and David Hannon.The family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 20104 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344. The funeral wil be Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Ramseur, NC 27316 with Rev. Harold Hammond and Rev.
