Ruby Valentine Sheffield Watkins

EDEN Ruby Valentine Sheffield Watkins, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Beacon Place of Greensboro. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Happy Home Church with Rev. Bruce McBride and Rev. Ron Tuck officiating. The family will remain at the church following the service to greet visitors. They will see friends on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and will be at Sandra's home other times. Mrs. Watkins was a native of Rockingham County and the daughter of the late Charlie Jed and Annie Will Wright Sheffield. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watkins; two sisters and two brothers. She worked at Happy Home School Cafeteria for 24 years, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and tending her flowers. For 71 years, she was a faithful and longtime member of Happy Home Church. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra and husband, Howard Key, Jr.; grandson, Randy Key and wife, Tammy; great-granddaughter, Holly; and a niece, Marie Marlowe. Mrs. Watkins will be laid to rest beside her husband at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
