Stephen Timblin Obituary
May 11, 1961 - May 30, 2025
Stephen Douglas Timblin of Liberty, NC, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at Pruitt Health Carolina Point Hospice Care in Durham, NC. Affectionately known as Steve, he was 64.
Steve is survived by his mother, Evelyn Timblin of Greensboro, NC; his brother, Jeff Timblin (Sandra Case) of Kingsport, TN; his sister, Dianne Timblin (James Lewis) of Durham, NC; and his niece and nephew, Kacie and Stanley Timblin of Kingsport, TN. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley W. Timblin.
Born on May 11, 1961, in Baltimore, MD, to Stanley and Evelyn Timblin, Steve graduated from Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC, in 1979. He pursued higher education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and later earned certificates in welding and machining from Guilford Technical Community College.
A skilled welder, Steve contributed to numerous personal and commercial projects. He also devoted many years to private security, reflecting his commitment to protecting others. As an early member of The Forge in Greensboro, Steve took pride in teaching fellow makers the art of welding. He was an active member of the Julian Lions Club and The Beard and Mustache Club of North Carolina.
Gregarious and curious, Steve never met a stranger. Known for his selflessness, he was always the first to volunteer when help was needed. A trivia expert and history enthusiast, Steve had a particular passion for vintage cars, delighting others with detailed stories about even the most obscure models.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church, 5929 Coble Church Rd, Liberty, NC, officiated by Reverend Keith Newell. All are invited to attend and honor Steve's remarkable legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Julian Lions Club, P.O. Box 21, Julian, NC 27283. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Pruitt HealthCarolina Point, the Pruitt Health Hospice team, and Dr. Frances Collichio, Paula Landman, and the care team at UNC Cancer Center for their compassionate and dedicated care.

I met Steve 6 years ago in downtown Greensboro and seen him regular downtown when he attended the Beard Club meetings. Smart guy with a passion for repairing various equipment and vehicles. Loved hotdogs. He will be missed.

Steve was such a joy. I only met him once at Michael and I´s wedding. He caught the garter and he talked to every person there. He will be surely missed.

I remember Steve from when I used to work for AutoZone. He would in after work and but parts for his many Plymouth Valiants. He was a really nice guy and he will be missed.
