SuBette Shelby Strand, almost 86, died at River Landing at Sandy Ridge in High Point, NC, on July 2, 2021.

SuBette was born in Anniston, AL on July 11, 1935, to Huey Lee and Louise Coley Shelby. After graduating from Anniston High School in 1953 and Queens University of Charlotte in 1957, she married Austin Clark Strand. She was married to Austin for 48 years until his unexpected death in 2005.

After moving to River Landing in November 2010, SuBette met and married Richard "Dick" Klotz. She and Dick shared a home for her first seven years at River Landing, together enjoying the many activities and friendships available there.

SuBette's gift was caregiving and she volunteered much of her time helping those in need. A long-time resident of Greensboro for more than 50 years and an active member of First Presbyterian Church, she served many years as a coordinator for the First Friends Ministry and had the opportunity to serve as a deacon. She was also a member of PEO Chapter J, a longtime member of the Bonne Terre Garden Club and several other organizations.

She is survived by her second husband, Richard Klotz of River Landing, and also by three children: Susan Strand Stanhope of Cary, NC, Andrew B Strand (and wife Mary Fran) of Greensboro, NC, and Stephen M Strand (and wife Tracy) of Cumming, GA; and by four grandchildren: Grace Strand Ricci (and husband Josh) of Winston-Salem, Michelle Stanhope Campbell (and wife Kenzie) of Greensboro, Walter C Strand of Cumming, GA and William M Strand of Cumming, GA; and by her sister, Sara Shelby Rushing (and husband Bill) of Russellville, AL.
