OAK RIDGE Mrs. Susan Apple Schmidt, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2018, surrounded by her husband and two daughters at her residence. She was born December 29, 1949, in Guilford County, to the late Wade Harlee and Ruth Evelyn Apple. She especially loved her grandkids and was known in the community as the "Egg Lady" at Pride of the Morning for 35 years. Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Claude W. Allen; two daughters, Trinity Spurlock (Anthony Basini) and Megan Beck (Michael); three step-sons, Jason S. Allen, Nicholas B. Allen (Angel) and Daniel C. Allen (Stephanie); eight grandchildren, Kaydence, Maggie, Miller, Benjamin, Steven, Sidney, Sarah and Eli; a brother, Garfield Apple (Sherry); three nephews, Chad, Brad and Ryan Apple; one niece, Ashley Schmidt; and her mother-in-law, Freda T. Allen. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Pastor Alan Mears officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Donations may be made to the Kate B.
