Wilford Eugene Tillman

1948 - 2023

Wilford Eugene (Gene) Tillman, Jr. Wilford Eugene Tillman Jr. (better known as Gene or AhGee to those that loved him) was born November 18, 1948 in Jackson, MS and passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina at the age of 74.

After graduating from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS, Gene completed a Bachelors of Science degree in Business and Industry from Mississippi State University and a Law Degree from The University of Mississippi. He later went on to receive an LLM, Master of Laws, from the University of Florida.

Gene spent most of his career as the Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Koury Corporation in Greensboro, NC for 29 years. He also served on the board of the Salvation Army in Greensboro, NC. and was a member of First Baptist Church, Greensboro for more than 20 years.

Gene was a proud father who found joy attending his daughter, Kimberly's sporting events and extracurricular activities when she was young and liked to take his grandchildren to the zoo, the movies, the beach or just to hit golf balls whenever they visited.

Gene was an avid golfer and spent most of his retirement on the golf course or enjoying the beach with his wife Karen. In addition, he loved cheering on his Mississippi State Bulldogs.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wilford Eugene Tillman Sr. and Blanche Tillman of Jackson, MS.

Gene leaves behind his wife, Karen Gibson Tillman and stepson, Joseph Michael Puleo, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, his daughter, Kimberly Tillman of Madison, MS, his son, Paul Shook (Alina) and three grandchildren, Abigail, Garrett and Leslie of Madison MS, and his sister, Ann Tillman Rumbavage (Will) of Jackson, MS. He will forever be in our hearts.

Family will hold private services at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations and memorials to be made to Mississippi State University at msufoundation.com or the Salvation Army.
