William "Jack" Jackson Lennon, age 93, of Reidsville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Born August 1, 1929, in Knoxville, Tenn. to Floyd and Nell Byrd Lennon. He was a Knoxville High School graduate, and he attended North Carolina State University on a football scholarship. Jack served in the Army, 72nd Tank Battalion during the Korean War. After the war, he became a store manager with McCrory's. He was transferred to Reidsville, N.C. in 1971, retiring in 1981. He began a second career with Reidsville Housing Authority as Maintenance Supervisor, and interim Housing Director twice before retiring in 2010 with 28 years of service at the age of 81. Jack enjoyed reading and was a believer in exercise and lifelong learning. Jack enjoyed sports throughout his life. He was a little league coach for football and basketball. Jack enthusiastically watched UT and NCSU football and attended sporting events for his son and later grandchildren. Jack accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man. He believed in God's calling to love and serve others. He was an active member of Baptist Temple Church since 1971. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mary Jean Chambers Lennon. He is survived by his daughter Kelli Lennon of Reidsville, N.C., son Bill Lennon, wife Rebecca Cox Lennon, and grandchildren Rachel, Jackson, and Caleb Lennon of Burlington, N.C. The funeral will take place at Citty Funeral Home, Reidsville, N.C. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 3 p.m., with visitation to take place immediately following funeral.
