GREENSBORO MRS. WILLIE CARTER High, 84, of Greensboro, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016. Willie was born in Windsor, North Carolina to the late William Carter and Dicey (Speller) Carter.She attended public school in Windsor before transferring to and graduating from Mary Potter Academy in Oxford, NC. She earned her bachelor's degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC, and received her master's degrees from North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After several years of teaching in various public school systems, she was appointed to teach mathematics at North Carolina A&T State University, where she retired after more than 30 years of service. She remained a loyal and contributing member of the alumni associations of Mary Potter Academy and North Carolina Central University.Upon her arrival in Greensboro, she joined Providence Baptist Church with her husband, Atty. Major S. High.Her greatest and proudest achievement was her family. She leaves a son, Major High, Jr.; a daughter, Renee High Martin (Tim); and two grandsons: Brian Martin and Tyus Martin; all reside in Greensboro, NC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.At Willie's request, there will not be a service in her memory.Memorial donations may be made in Willie's name to the Guilford Tech Community College (GTCC) Compensatory Education Development.
