Abbie R. Evatt, 87, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at Hospice Of The Carolina Foothills in Landrum. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Richard Washburn and Mary Stella Saulsbury Schenck. She was a member of The Eastern Star, UMW, and Mountain View United Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters: Carol Ruth Pace, and Marcia Rose Hopkins; two sons: John Calvin Evatt, Jr., and Samuel Richard Evatt; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Along with her parents she was predeceased by one brother and one sister. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2 p.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Mountain View United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mountain View United Methodist Church, 6525 Mountain View Rd., Taylors, SC 29687. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thehowzemortuary.com. Dear Cousins, I feel as if my second mother has just gone to heaven. I remember so well our young days of time spent with your family and you with our family. Even though circumstances and distance have kept us from spending much time together in our middle and "older" years, the love and joy that we are FAMILY is still there.
