Bernard Smith Obituary

Bernard Herbert Smith, born February 23, 1936, beloved husband of Florence Hudson Smith, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on the 13th day of February 2008. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, and he attended Friendship Sunday school class. He was retired from Steel Heddle. He was the son of the late Robert (Top) Smith and Irene Shelton Smith.

Surviving are his loving wife, Florence Smith; one daughter, Janice McCoy and husband James McCoy; one son, Stephen Smith and wife Linda Smith; three grandsons, James McCoy Jr. and wife Becky McCoy, Matthew McCoy and wife Renee McCoy, Joseph McCoy and Meghan; two granddaughters, Leah and Loren Hyatt; two great-grandchildren, Jae and Kayla McCoy; two brothers, Robert Smith and wife, Erleen, of Moore, and Dewey Smith and wife, Margie, of Woodruff.

Mr. Smith was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Smith.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ken Forrester, Rev. Martin Atkins, and Rev. Engrum Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

The family is at the home.
