Joe Allison Obituary

Joe S. Allison, 93, widower of Margaret Whitfield Allison, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at Hospice of the Upstate.

Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late W.L. and Alma Moody Allison.

Mr. Allison was retired from J.P. Stevens and a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Don Gosnell, Gail and Dooder Jones, and Sammie and Jerry Daigle, all of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ginny Allison of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin Allison of Greenville and James Allison of Fort Mill; a sister, Willie Mae Mitchell of Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Connie Allison of Simpsonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Creek Baptist Church, 255 W. Mountain Creek Church Road, Greenville, SC 29609, or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at noon at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
