Evelyn Alexander Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn Manning Hillhouse Alexander, age 85, of 302 Island Point, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at the Regency Hospital of Greenville.

Born in Anderson on December 26, 1922, Mrs. Alexander was a daughter of the late Melvin "Pad" Porter Hillhouse and Ruby Manning Hillhouse. She was a 1940 graduate of Girls' High School and attended Winthrop College. She was a former resident of North Myrtle Beach, where she helped her husband in the motel industry. She was a member of the Anderson County Woman's Club, a former member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was presently a devoted member of Ruhamah United Methodist Church in Starr.

Survivors include her son, Ron Alexander; and grandson, Barry Alexander of North Myrtle Beach; and a sister, Laura Jo Berry of Starr.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Frederick Alexander; sons, John Alexander Jr., Barry K. Alexander, Bill Alexander and Bob Alexander.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ruhamah United Methodist Church officiated by the Rev. Amy Dill. Interment will follow in Old Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson.

The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, December 26, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Alexander will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The family will be at the residence.

Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Ruhamah United Methodist Church, or Ruhamah Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 535, Iva, SC 29655
