Gary Q. Chastain passed away in his home on February 24, 2015 in Ovilla, TX surrounded by this family.

Mr. Chastain was born on August 10, 1948 in Greenville, SC to parents, Quentin and Priscilla Chastain. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Murphy, in 1968 to which he was married for 47 years.

Gary proudly enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1967 to 1971. During that time, he was deployed to Vietnam serving in the 15th River Assault Squadron from 1969 to 1970.

Upon his return, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1976. The Chastains then moved to Texas where Gary worked at Owens Corning for 37 years in Waxahachie fulfilling roles of Maintenance Supervisor and Environmental Engineer until his retirement in 2013.

A person who enjoyed life, Gary was often seen working in his garage, detailing the finer points of technology from his den chair, or swinging clubs on the golf course. More than anything however, Gary loved being with his family and being a Papa to his three grandgirls.

Mr. Chastain is survived by is wife, Linda Chastain of Ovilla, TX; his daughter, Alison Sanders (Brian) of Stephenville, TX; his son, Gared Chastain (Shawna) of Sachse, TX; his siblings, June Tuck (James) of Piedmont, SC and Roger Chastain (Jeri) of Reidville, SC; and three grandchildren Grace and Kelly Sanders, and Eliana Chastain. He is preceded in death by his parents, Quentin and Priscilla Chastain.

Visitation will be available to the public at Boze-Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie, TX on Saturday, February 28th between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 p.m at the same location.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gary's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Bristol Pathways Hospice, Wounded Warrior Project, or the American Cancer Society.
