George Neely Obituary

George Washington Neely, 70, of 6 N. Folkshire Ct., passed away at home on December 26, 2006. The son of the late William Hinson and Evie Evington Neely.

George was a member of Forestville Baptist Church, the VFW, and was a Mason. He was retired from the US Army, a veteran of the Vietnam conflict. He served in combat and was decorated with a Bronze Star and other medals. He was discharged honorably as Sergeant Major. He then went on to retire from Michelin Tires in 2005. He loved his family very much, especially his loving and caring wife, Jackie Neely.

Survivors are his loving wife, Jackie Neely, of the home; a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Neely; three sons, James Douglas Neely, William Dale Neely and Devin Neely. Stepchildren, Tecia Leigh Anders and John David Griffith, all of Greenville. Two sisters, Patricia Fortner (Jerome) of Woodruff, S.C., and Evelyn Neely of Pickens, S.C. Also Nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter, Donna Garrett Neely.

Services are Thursday, December 28, 2006, at 1 p.m., at Forestville Baptist Church, with Rev. Bob Mathis officiating. Visitation is tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Westville Funeral Home. Burial is in the church graveyard following services. Full military honors will be given.

Flowers are ok or memorials in his honor to Hospice Care of SC, 600 E. Washington St., Greenville, SC 29601.

The family is at the residence.
