Joyce DeEtte Pipkin Blackman
Joyce DeEtte Pipkin Blackman aged 76, died Thursday May 3, 2012, at her home in Darlington, SC after a brief illness. She was born November 6, 1935 in Darlington County to the late Coke J. and Lucille Segars Pipkin. She graduated from St. John's High School in Darlington, and married the late Richard Franklin Blackman Jr. on August 12, 1955. She was predeceased in death by son Richard Michael Blackman; and brothers Joe and John Pipkin. Mrs. Blackman was the owner of the Park Florist in Darlington for 36 years. She was a lifelong active attendee of the Epworth United Methodist Church and a past-member of the Pilot Club. DeEtte was an avid bowler when she was not at her shop taking care of her customers.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Lee) Blackman of Simpsonville, SC, and Patrick (Teresa) Blackman of Florence, SC, and seven grandchildren; Jennifer (Mark) Goldsmith, Malia (Matthew) Shewmaker, Kenneth Jr., Bethany, Kristin, Tiffany, and Bryson Blackman. Also, three brothers, Chesley Pipkin, and Maurice (Janie) Pipkin of Darlington, and Wayne (Peggy) Pipkin of Florence.
Visitation will be Saturday evening May 5th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Belk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the Belk Chapel on Sunday May 6th at 3:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Blackman's caregiver Terri Tomberlin, as well as the many friends and family for their love and care for Mrs. Blackman during the past 8 months.
Floral arrangements are suggested due to her love of flowers and her florist. If one wishes to send a memorial it is suggested to the American Cancer Society
