Neta Durrett Obituary

Graveside services for Annetta "Neta" Clark Durrett, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville, S.C. The Rev. Dr. Bev Kennedy, the Rev. Phil Hall and Mrs. Adair Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family.

Memorials may be made to the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center (Bus Fund), 1 Martha Franks Dr., Laurens, SC 29360; First Baptist Church of Laurens, 300 W. Main St., Laurens, SC 29360; First Baptist Church of Hartsville, 104 E. Home Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550; or Coker College, 300 E. College Ave. Hartsville, SC 29550.

Mrs. Durrett, widow of Robert W. Durrett, died Thursday, February 25, 2010. Born in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Winnifred McLauchlin Clark. She was active in church and civic organizations in Hartsville, S.C., Mystic, Conn., and Laurens, S.C. She was a member of Laurens First Baptist Church, the Ruth Shelley Sunday School Class, the Ann Pamela Cunningham Garden Club, and a life member of the Garden Clubs of South Carolina. As a member of WMU for over 60 years, she served in many leadership positions in Hartsville, Mystic, and Laurens.

Surviving are her son, Robert W. "Bob" Durrett of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Margaret D. Davis of Augusta, Ga.; grandson, Jonathan R. Durrett, great granddaughter, Peyton Elizabeth Durrett; sisters, Irma Gray of Camlachie, Ontario, Canada, Gloria Johnson of Brantford, Ontario, Canada; niece, Patricia H. Lackey of Columbia, S.C.; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews in Canada.
