Ruby S. Ambrose

Ruby S. Ambrose, 92, of Waynesboro, Va., died at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at the residence of her caregiver, Carolyn Robinson, of Lyndhurst.

She was born Oct. 16, 1909, in Anderson, daughter of Aaron Yancey and Annie Erskine Shirley.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Shirley and Louie Shirley; two sisters, Rosa Smith and Mamie Creech; one son, Robert A. Nabers; and a son-in-law, Donald J. Straka.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley N. Straka; granddaughters, Kathy Straka Whitesell and her husband Robbie, of Waynesboro, Gail Straka Anderson and her husband Vancleve Anderson, of Waynesboro; a grandson, Gary Nabers, of Marietta; and great-grandchildren, Alex and Kelly Whitesell of Waynesboro, Lauren and Christopher Anderson of Waynesboro, and Mellissa and Matt Wisham of Rock Hill.

Cryptside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Greenville, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Skinner.

The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Shirley Straka, 1601 Summitt Drive, Waynesboro, Va.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to A.H.C. Hospice of The Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fisherville, VA 22939.

While in South Carolina, Shirley will be at the home of her sister-in-law, Ruth Daniels, 190 Ellison Lane, Lyman.

Reynolds Funeral service of Waynesboro is handling arrangements. - The Wood Mortuary, Inc. is in charge of local arrangements.
