Ruby Phillips Obituary
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Willie W. and Sarah Alice Merrit McNeely.
Mrs. Phillips was owner and operator of Buttons and Bows Day Care Center in Powdersville, along with her sister Willie Mae Stewart. She received the Jefferson Award in 1996 and the Community Service Award in 1999. She was a member of Tremont Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, Walter Glen Phillips of the home; two daughters, Shirley Stitely of Melb, Fla., and Helen Stubbles of Cinti, Ohio; a son, Charles Phillips of Taylors; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Phillips was loved by many, many nieces and nephews and children attending her day care center.
Services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Tremont Church of God, with visitation from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Bethesda United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Tremont Church of God Building Fund, 2854 New Easley Highway, Greenville, SC 29611; or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
