Rutt Riddle Obituary

Ruttland Edward Riddle, 62, of 11 Merry Oak Trail, Piedmont, died Saturday, September 16, 2006. Born in Marianna, Florida, Mr. Riddle was the son of the late Palmer Edward and Anne Olive Riddle.

He graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1962 and Clemson University in 1969. He was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant from the S.C. Army National Guard. Mr. Riddle was President and CEO of Riddle Associates, Inc. and PWSI.

Mr. Riddle was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Irene Cely Sunday School Class, and he was a member and Past President of the United Methodist Men. He served on the Board of Trustees of the church many times, and served as its Chairperson in 2001-2002. During the construction of the new church building, Mr. Riddle was Chairperson of the Building and Planning Committee.

Mr. Riddle served on the Anderson County Economic Development Committee, and he was Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Powdersville Water District. He was a member of IPTAY for over forty years.

Surviving are his wife of the home, Sue Adair Riddle; three daughters, Robin Riddle Johnson and her husband, Hamp, Laura Riddle Sudbeck and her husband, David, all of Easley, and Caci Riddle Abercrombie and her husband, Travis of Greenville; a sister and brother-in-law, Fran and Tom Mangum of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Madeline Sudbeck, Grayson Sudbeck, and Ella Rose Sudbeck; and three grandchildren to come.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethesda United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Escort of Honor will be the Irene Cely Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the church, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Bethesda United Methodist Church, 516 Piedmont Road, Easley, S.C. 29642; or to the charity of one's choice.

The family is at the home.

Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road is assisting the family with arrangements.
