Theresa Dorsch Obituary

Theresa (Teri) A. Dorsch

Clemson

Theresa (Teri) A. Dorsch, 53, of Clemson, SC died peacefully on October 20, 2013, after a one and one-half year battle with triple negative breast cancer. Teri made a difference throughout her life with her smiles, kind words, and willingness to help others. Teri fought the good fight, she finished her course, and she kept her faith.

Teri was born on March 10, 1960 in Beaver Dam, WI to Mr. George E. Allemand and Joan B. (Boughton) Allemand, both deceased. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, and a MBA from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville. She married Michael J. Dorsch on July 28, 1984. In 1986, Teri and Mike moved to Ames, Iowa where she was a lecturer in the Marketing Department at Iowa State University; and in 1993, Teri and her family moved to Clemson, SC. From 2007-2009, Teri was the Optical Shop Assistant Manager at Clemson Ophthalmology. From 2010 to her death, Teri was the Office Manager at Seneca Pediatric Endocrinology.

Teri lived a full life as a dedicated mother and wife. She was a member of Saint Andrews Catholic Church and volunteered at her children's schools and several organizations in the Clemson community. As member of Spindle Tree Racquet Club, she was known as an avid tennis player, a wonderful partner, and a fierce competitor. She also loved the outdoors, especially hiking and viewing waterfalls.

Teri courageously battled her cancer without complaint. Instead, she responded with grace, strength, and an unwavering faith. She was a source of help, strength, and comfort to others. Her favorite saying during times of trial was 'find your joy.'

Surviving in addition to her husband, is a daughter, Jennifer J. Dorsch, MD of Durham, NC; a son, Christopher M. Dorsch, an MBA student at Wake Forest, Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers Mark Allemand of Gibson City, IL, and Tim Allemand and wife Lori, of Beaver Dam, WI; and a sister, Kathy Laabs and husband Dan, of Beaver Dam, WI.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tarina Mendes for being a wonderful employer and friend; Dr. Jeffrey K. Giguere and staff at GHS Cancer Center of the Carolinas - Seneca, SC; Dr. Daniel M. Smith Jr. and staff at Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, Seneca, SC; and for the help of our family and friends during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30AM, Monday, October 28 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Clemson, SC., followed be a reception at Brimley Hall. Teri will be buried in a private ceremony at Ramsey Creek Preserve. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or the Oconee Hospice of the Foothills.

Though our time with Teri was way too short, her spirit
lives on through all of our fine memories. It was a privilege
to be her friend on and off the tennis court.

Dear Mike,Jen and Chris,
Teri was a beautiful woman both inside and outside. Teri was energetic and a positive person. She showed devotion, love and enthusiasm toward her husband and two children. She was a role model to my youngest son Andy. She gave all of her time to soccer and basketball with her children. She encouraged her children to strive in academics and taught them the importance of preparing themselves for life. She had a positive smile in the community and quietly lived her life. I had lost touch with Teri after the children were grown but will always remember her kindness and devotion to family. I know that her loss will be very difficult for Mike,Jen and Chris, for they were the recipients of her love for so many years.
Remember that Teri would expect for you to grieve and then live your lives and do well. Jen and Chris go forward and share with the world what your mother gave you!
My deepest sympathy,
Susan Curtis
