William Weinberg Obituary

William Henry Weinberg, 79, of Foothills Presbyterian Home, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at Palmetto Health Baptist in Easley. Mr. Weinberg was predeceased by his wife, Mary Minser Weinberg, whom he married in 1942, in McConnellsville, Ohio.

Born in Hammond, Ind., Mr. Weinberg was the son of the late Walter Henry and Mary Catherine Bowman Weinberg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. After the war, he completed his Metallurgical Engineering degree from Ohio State University in 1948, and held a management position with Interlake Inc. in both Toledo, Ohio and Chicago for 35 years. Following retirement in the early 1980's, Bill and Mary left the snowy winters behind and moved to the Easley area. Bill was an active member of Easley Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder and Treasurer. He was also a dedicated volunteer at Palmetto Health Baptist for a number of years. He readily made friends throughout the community with his infectious smile and genuine concern for others. He was a compassionate man, who will be missed by friends and family, including his dear friend, Floride Gardner.

Surviving are three sons, William H. Weinberg Jr. (Patricia), of Waco, Texas, Roger David Weinberg (Holly), of Eagle, Idaho, and Douglas Blake Weinberg (Theu), of Centreville, Va.; one daughter, Anita K. Hylek, of Schererville, Ind.; one sister, Helen L. Kouba, of Englewood, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Private committal services will be held Friday, in the Veterans Garden of Honor, at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, with the Rev. Linda Ann Sharp officiating.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight.

Memorials may be made to Foothills Presbyterian Home, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC 29642.
