Suzanne Seton Obituary

Suzanne M. Seton A Greenwich resident since 1993, Suzanne Alexia Maimin Seton, age 99, died peacefully on March 26, 2024. She was born in Manhattan to Sophie (Pincus) and Dave Maimin.

During her childhood, the family moved to Larchmont, New York, where she attended Murray Avenue School and, later, Fieldston School in the Bronx. She was a graduate of Carnegie Tech (now known as Carnegie Mellon University). After college, she worked as a copywriter for clothing ads in newspapers. In 1948, she married Charles (Chuck) Seton, a returning veteran who was a copyright attorney in the arts. With their daughter, Pam, and their infant son, Charles, they moved back to Larchmont in 1954.

Sue was a devoted wife and mother, as well as an active volunteer in Westchester organizations for the disabled, the League of Women Voters and publicity for her children's schools. Summers were spent in extended stays at Lake Sunapee and Grantham, New Hampshire. Sue and Chuck were inveterate travelers and journeyed worldwide. In their later years, they moved to an apartment in Greenwich. She was an enthusiastic Literacy Volunteer, a docent for the Greenwich Historical Society and an interviewer for chronicling the lives of prominent Greenwich residents. After Chuck died in 2005, she became a member of At Home In Greenwich, which became a crucial focus of her life. With this group, she forged lasting relationships, enjoyed social activities and, later, as her health declined, relied on their home services.

She is survived by her son, Charles, her daughter, Pam and her son-in-law, Joe. Her beloved grandsons and their wives are Alexander and his wife, Marisa and Gregory and his wife, Bahar. Theo, Mia and Dario are her treasured great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Verlyn Brown, her wonderful aide for the last years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or Literacy Volunteers.
