A good friend and client of my late sister Linda, Ann was a wonderfully engaging personality, always upbeat . . .

My first memories of my aunt Ann are of letters coming across the Atlantic. There was a way that she wrote `and´ in a slanting diagonal that always stood out. A photograph of a glamorous Ann riding a donkey barefoot on a beach in the West of Ireland is another memory from that time of the 1950s. And then, one of my own first memory of America is from the time when as a very small child I became lost at her wedding. John Dowdle rescued me and took my back away from the hub of confusion. He read a story to me that I remember to this day.
Ann´s lovely house `Otter Point´ was a place that I came to know for its great welcome and hospitality. I stayed with her there a few times on my travels and made two paintings of that time. It was a lovely place with the view from a height over water and bounded by tall trees. A restful middle room was a winter sitting room; a place for reading one of the many books that lived in the house, or long conversation and stories, or watching a movie after a delicious supper.
Sometimes Ann came to Ireland. One trip with her was to the West with a folded up poster of the Birds of Ireland. One by one a triumphant tick went beside the pictures of the birds. Through English friends that Ann met in Maine my aunt Ann came to understand my own mother´s world and its different cultural values. On this side of the Atlantic there was a deep interest in passionate gardening and a curiosity and delight in each new treasure of a plant or winter bulbs.
A common interest on both sides of the Atlantic was a love of reading and good books. My brother Ciarán found a photograph of Ann with both of us in NYC from some years ago. Her merry smile and twinkling eyes bring back her wonderful charm and laugh.
May she twinkle and charm and laugh with the best of them in the next world.

Beautiful and the youngest of the Skakel brood, one figured she would be the last to die. Alas. May her family be comforted by the memories.

Annie,
So sorry your Mom has passed on. She was a warm kind lady and I always enjoyed time spent with you and Ann when I worked at her home.

I am so sorry for the loss of this incredible woman! She was a best friend and supporter of my cousin, Fr. Francis Moy, Sj. Frank spoke so highly of your Mom and she certainly left a huge footprint in his heart. Annie, it was so wonderful meeting you, and you and your family will always remain in my thoughts and prayers. As Frank would remind us of these powerful words from W.B. Yeats; Think where man´s glory most begins and ends, And say my glory was, I had such great friends! May she rest in the arms of Jesus!

Dear John, MaryEllen, Annie, Skakel and Michael,
We miss Ann with all of our being, but the incredible example of tireless devotion and love, set by every member of your family, are impossible to overlook. I thank God for all of you. I will do my best to honor Ann's memory by seeing to it that none of my bird feeders run empty this winter! I am certain that she will be watching! Love, Phil

Ann became a trusted confidant and supportive relative to the John H Pinto family. We recall delicious Thanksgiving celebrations as well family gatherings in our home. When we bought and moved into our first home in Greenwich Ann provided our first home delivered meal. With love and affection. Donna de Varona Pinto, John, Joanna and John David Pi to
