Catherine F. Wilson, 78, wife of Robert J. Wilson, Jr., of Beaufort, SC died Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Beaufort, SC.
Mrs. Wilson was born on August 13, 1938 in Port Chester, New York, the daughter of the late John J. Farrell and Mary Rogers Farrell and was the granddaughter of four Irish immigrants.
She was raised in Rye, New York, and graduated from the Academy of the Resurrection in Rye in 1955. Mrs. Wilson graduated from Wheaton College (Massachusetts) in 1959 and shortly after that began a career in New York City in advertising and media. She started her career with J. Walter Thompson Advertising Agency and worked for Metromedia Channel Five (now Fox 5) in various capacities for both John Kluge and Merv Griffin until her marriage in July of 1967.
In 1973, she and her family moved to Greenwich, CT where she lived until 1998. She was active in the Riverside School PTA, the Greenwich Junior Women's Club where she was an editor of "The Link" and played bridge weekly. Mrs. Wilson was also involved with volunteering her time with the Greenwich High School wrestling program.
After moving to South Carolina, Mrs. Wilson was active in a local book club as well as helping at the St. Peter's Catholic Church Food Pantry in Beaufort, SC.
Mrs. Wilson was known to be a wonderful conversationalist and writer, and enjoyed gardening, art, following tennis, and traveling with her family. She will be very missed by her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Robert, are two sons; Christopher Wilson (Christine) of Harrisburg, PA, and John Wilson (Erin) of Old Greenwich; one daughter, Abby Sparks (Jamie) of Milford, CT; and three granddaughters, Caitlin Wilson, Mackensey Wilson and Morgan Wilson.
A funeral mass in celebration of Catherine F. Wilson's life will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, CT at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook, New York.
