Eric Lundell Obituary

Lundell, Eric
Eric Lundell 1922-2013, A native and long time resident in the Port Chester-Rye area, Eric Lundell passed away this Monday in Poughkeepsie, NY, at the age of 91. He is survived by his five sons, Allan, Wayne, Norman, Carl, and William Lundell, and 4 grandchildren, Sherry, Christopher, Robert, and Joseph Lundell. Eric was the last living family member of the iconic Lundell's Flowers and Nursery on Ridge Street, across from St. Mary's Cemetary, a family business that served the community with flowers, plants, trees and a smile for over 50 years. A veteran of WW2, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyards, and later in the European Theater. As part of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, he was recently honored for 50 years of service. Eric was also a long time member of the Masonic Lodge in Port Chester, NY, and had an exceptional talent of connecting people to others they needed to meet. A memorial service for friends and family will be held later this summer. For further info, contact his son Carl Lundell at [email protected]

Mom and I are sorry to hear that a dear friend is no longer with us. He was a friend of our family for many years. Dad was in the Masonic Temple with him and enjoyed many outings together. Eric would always bring Mom some flowers when he came to visit. I remember Eric taking me skiing for the first time to Hunter Mountain. I am still skiing and everytime we would talk he would ask me how skiing was. He loved the sport!
Our deepest sympathy to you.
