Gerardo Rosenkranz Obituary

GERARDO MIGUEL ROSENKRANZ, Greenwich resident, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was a beloved father of Lili, Tommy and Emma and loving husband of Lauren. Jerry is the son of George and Edith Rosenkranz and brother to Roberto and Ricardo. Jerry was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ventech International, a private venture capital firm concentrating on early stage communications, information technology and internet companies. Prior to Ventech, Jerry was a senior executive in business development, marketing and sales worldwide for Sprint International. He established Sprint's European headquarters. Jerry was born and raised in Mexico City and graduated from Stanford University in 1973 with a BS and MS in Electrical Engineering. He received a graduate degree of ENGR in Electrical Engineering Administration and wrote his dissertation on Management Information in Multinational Organizations. At the young age of 12 Jerry's interest in electronics became apparent when he built the first color TV from a kit for the family. His curiosity for electronics and technology was the guiding light for his career. He was at the forefront of technology with a deep understanding of Latin America and was recognized as one of the important forces to bring technology entrepreneurship to Latin America. Over the course of his career, he contributed to the formation and growth of many leading businesses including Blade Logic, Mercado Libre, Patagon and Bling. Jerry expressed his passion for life through his many pursuits, which he started enjoying as one of three brothers growing up in Mexico. These interests included skiing, golf, scuba diving, photography and wind surfing. He loved to travel and was fluent in four languages including Italian, French, Spanish and English. His education and career took him many places, yet these interests were a foundation for sharing life with his family and close friends. Jerry was extremely philanthropic and was involved in many organizations including the Mouse Foundation, Stanford University, Greenwich Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, DonorsChoose.org, as well as Brunswick and Greenwich Academy where his children attend school, just to name a few. Jerry will be remembered as a loving, warm, and genuinely compassionate father, friend and mentor. Throughout his life, and especially over the course of the last eight years as he confronted the challenges of cancer, he was a fountain of courage and grace for all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. His bright light will be missed. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 12th at Temple Sholom at 2:00 pm, 300 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich. The family will be sitting shiva on Thursday, May 12th 5 to 8 pm, Friday, May 13th 1 to 4 pm at the Rosenkranz family home. The family will not be sitting Shiva on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider a gift to the Rosenkranz Neuroendocrince Research Fund at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dear Ricky and all of the Rosenkranz family - such pain has arrived to you as you bid farewell to your brother. But such happiness has he left in your heart with so many images of strength and life. And by example a life well lived, though short, is the essence of our existence. An example for us all. I am with you dear Ricky and your family.

I remember both Jerry & Bobby in Mexico City during my senior year of high school at Lomas. Jerry always had that twinkle in his eyes, great smile and warm heart. You will be
missed by all who knew you and loved you.
