James McCormack Obituary

James E. McCormack
James Edward McCormack, 75, of Grafton, MA passed on Friday, February 11, 2022. He leaves behind his daughter Katie of Rochester, NY and her children Madaleine, Kara, and Ryan; son Mark and his wife Amy of North Grafton, MA, and their children Lainey and Phin; his devoted partner Marian Howley of Stamford, CT and her children Alex, Aaron, and Kaitlin and their families; his siblings Billy McCormack, Susie Higgins, John McCormack and their families, as well as many very close friends who admired Jim greatly. Jim touched the lives of many people, near and far, and his loss is felt deeply. He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary McCormack and Mark's mother, Elaine Hayden McCormack.
Born on November 9, 1946, he was known as "Jimmy" in Greenwich, Connecticut where he spent his childhood. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam after graduating from St. Mary's High School in Greenwich in 1964 and Franklin Pierce College in 1970. His career began in sales, however over time, Jim found ways to turn his strengths into professions. Construction restoration and renovation, Home Inspector, and food services were other successful occupations he held. His last construction project was the Ethan Allen 1830's gun mill that was restored as a two-family home where he lived for the remainder of his life, with Mark's family next door.
Jim was an avid gardener, cook and New England sports enthusiast. He loved to be on the water or in the water, diving in the Caribbean being his preference. He had a great appreciation for nature and backyard bird-watching. He firmly believed dogs were man's best friend and always had a furry companion, many of whom we hope were waiting for him at Heaven's Gates. If you knew Jim, you know he loved a good party, where he could be found either dancing or singing, or both! Jim's family will forever remember his voracious appetite for good food and a good life. His recounting of favorite memories and signature laugh, which he shared readily, will be missed by all.
We will celebrate Jim's life with a Memorial Mass on June 18, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Mary Church (16 Summer St. Shrewsbury MA 01545). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to: Pets for Vets (https://www.petsforvets.com/donate/online) to honor Jim's pride of his service as well as his love for animals.
