John E. Lovell , age 93, of Greenwich, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21 surrounded by his family.
John served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant during the Korean War and then went on to earn a PhD from Columbia University. He was employed for 40 years at IBM as the Chief Executive Engineer/Economist reporting to the CFO and Board of Directors. John enjoyed skiing, horse back riding and hiking in the Green Mountains. In his retirement years, he loved to visit friends and family in Vermont and New Hampshire and take in the New England scenery.
John also attended services at Christ Church in Greenwich, CT.
John was born 1927 in Darien, Connecticut son of Phillip Gray Lovell and Helen Danforth Smith. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Mary.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Sue Morrison and Allison Lovell MD and her two sons, Cody and Casey Lillen. Also, sister Amy Fay now residing in New Hampshire.
Memorial services for John will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Christ Church (Chapel) Greenwich CT, 234 E. Putnam Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830. Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery, 35 Parsonage Road, Greenwich, CT 06830.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to John's favorite animal rescues: Big Cat Rescue, 12802 East St., Tampa, FL 36625 ; Honor Animal Rescue, 4951 Lorraine Rd., Bradenton, FL 34211.
