Kathryn Whalen Obituary

Whalen, Kathryn
Kathryn Ann Whalen, long time resident of Ridgefield, died on November 11, 2012 at Danbury Hospital. She was 71 years old and beloved wife of Martin P. Whalen, to whom she was married for 32 years. Mrs. Whalen was born in Tulsa, OK, November 25, 1940, daughter of the late Robert L. and Dorothy (Bolch) Triplett. She graduated from Will Rodgers High School in 1958 and was Finance Major at The University of Michigan. Kathy moved her family to Ridgefield in 1972, where she became a top Professional Realtor in the Town of Ridgefield for over 25 years. She began her career at Mary Hagen Associates, then onto Neumann Real Estate, Fitzgerald and Hastings and eventually to Coldwell Banker where she excelled as a top Associate. She earned many Coldwell Banker International President's Elite Awards including the coveted Number One Sales Associate Award for the state of Connecticut in 1992. She was President of the Board of Realtors in Ridgefield from 1980 to 1989. She remained a member of the National Association of Realtors and Connecticut Association of Realtors throughout her career. In addition to her husband Martin, she is survived by her son, Alan E. Smart, wife, Beverly and grandson, Samuel of Leesburg, VA; her daughter, Pamela Smart and Steven Chimblo of Greenwich, CT; her son, Robert L. Smart, of Mexico, and grandson Mathew of Ossining, NY; her brother, Robert L. Triplett Jr., wife, Sabrina of Tulsa, OK; and several nieces and nephews. Kathy was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was a unique person who only looked for the good in people. This was her passion and it will live on forever in the hearts of those who had the chance to know her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:15 am in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield with Father Russell Augustine, parochial vicar, officiating. Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

My Dear Kathy, you will be so missed. I so enjoyed having you in my Life when I lived in Ridgefield. You made my move from PA. to CT. so much easier and I so enjoyed our lunches and times together in the 80's and early 90's.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this most difficult time.
May God give you all his Support and Peace and remember the LOVE that Kathy cherished upon all of you.
