Michael Macari Sr.

MICHAEL MACARI, SR.

a Stamford resident for 60 years, died Friday, February 3, 2006 at his residence at the age of 85. He was born October 29, 1920 in Settefrati, Italy. He was the son of the late Angelomaria & Maria Cucco Macari. Mr. Macari was the owner and operator of Macari's Meat Market for 25 years formerly located on Pacific Street and Soundview Avenue in Stamford. He also worked at Electrolux Corp., formerly of Old Greenwich, CT. He was also employed by Palmer's Supermarkets and most recently was employed as a Security Officer in Stamford. Mr. Macari served in WW2 US Army.

He was a Medical Technician with the 9th Field Hospital in France and Belgium landing in the Normany Invasion follow D-Day. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy Courmenos Macari, of Stamford, CT and his loving sons Michael and Sally Macari, Jr., of Stamford, CT, Jerry and Toni Macari Sr. of Stamford, CT and his daughter, Diane and Ted Paster, of Brookfield, CT. Mr. Macari is also survived by his brother, John Macari and his wife Susan, of Stamford, CT, his sister Antoinette "Toni" Vagnone and her husband Michael, of Norwalk, CT and sisters-in-law Eleanor Macari of Stamford, CT and Catherine Mead also of Stamford and his loving grandchildren, Richard, Jenna, Jerry Jr., David, Danielle, Nicholas, Jordan and Joey Michelle Macari and Daniel and Alexandra Paster. His beloved brother Salvatore Macari predeceased him. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at 10:30 am, at St. Mary Church, Elm Street, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may call at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Monday, February 6, 2006 from 4-8 pm.
