Nancy Mott Obituary

Nancy Barton Mott
July 22, 1927 - February 20, 2024
Nancy Barton Mott passed away comfortably at home on the morning of February 20, 2024. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 26 years, George Sherman Mott, and eldest son, Bradley Adams Mott. She leaves behind her two sons, Theodore Oliver Dale (Tod) Mott and Alexander Paine Mott, and a caring family of daughter-in-laws, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Nancy was born July 22, 1927 in Bronxville, NY. Her parents, DeWolfe and Anna Barton, raised her in Pelham Manor, NY and she also spent time at her father's ranch in New Mexico and summered in Beverly, MA. She graduated from Smith College, where she majored in music.
After college, while living in New York City, she met her husband and moved to Greenwich, Connecticut to raise their children.
Nancy was an inspiration to her family, friends and acquaintances. She had many passions, including gardening, cooking, wildlife, and traveling. She went the extra mile to become a professional chef and caterer, opening Cooks Corner in Greenwich. She was a lifelong American Daffodil Society judge and founder of the Seven States daffodil show, an intrepid traveler who visited every continent and a devoted Episcopalian. She shared her love of music, performing arts, travel and charity with many. The greatest gift she gave the world was her positive attitude about all that she loved.
All who knew her will remember her as a powerful, positive influence and a steady voice in her community.
A memorial service will be held at St. Barnabas Church, 954 Lake Avenue, Greenwich, CT, on April 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at The Field Club of Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy's name to WNET, Smith College or the Daffodil Society of America.

We first met Nancy at Cooks Corner decades ago and have admired her ever since. Gracious, talented, intelligent, positive, kind, warm and welcoming, she was a lovely Perkins Road neighbor. She will be missed.
Our deepest sympathy to the family on this sad loss,
