Ralph Vitale Obituary
Ralph G. Vitale, Jr., age 76 of Milford, beloved husband of Regine Rossius Vitale, died June 16, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Ralph was born in Jersey City, NJ, July 19, 1941, son of the late Ralph Sr. and Ruth Hellum Vitale. Ralph was a veteran of the US Army who served in Vietnam, and later in Berlin, Germany. He was a teacher in the Greenwich school system for many years until his retirement. He taught and coached thousands of people who will carry on his memory. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to have known him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Nils Vitale and his wife Amanda of Milford and Dylan Vitale of Derby, his grandchild Adrian Vitale, his brother Michael Vitale and his wife Dawn of Belchertown, MA, and his nephews Nathan and Justin Vitale. Calling hours will be held Friday June 22, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, 135 N. Broad St., Milford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org or to a charity of one's choice. To the Vitale Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. V was such an amazing teacher, coach and person. One of the most generous teachers. He had more impact on my personal development than possibly any other teacher. They just don't make them like that anymore. Thank you for sharing him with us so many years ago.

I had the pleasure of having Ralph be my mentor as I was seeking the "best"advice and direction as my physical education career was beginning to take shape. He was so talented and giving as not just a great physical educator, but also as an awesome person. He will be missed big time by this "old" school , now retired physical educator. Rest in peace big guy.

Ralph was a great man who I enjoyed seeing and talking with when I subbed at CMS. It's been 12 years or so since I last saw him but have nothing but good memories about Ralph. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. V was such a great part of my elementary school experience. He put countless hours of his own time at Befores and Afters helping us develop our soccer and gymnastics skills. So many of his students were able to go on to varsity athletics in junior high and high school because of Mr. V's efforts. We were all so lucky to have such an exceptional gym teacher and coach.
