Rosemary Ruth Ellman-Brown Stanton, 92, of Franklin, died peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Romi, as she was known to her friends, was born in Radlett, Hertfordshire, England, daughter to the late Reginald and Janet Brown.
She led an extraordinary life, enlisting in the British Navy as a young woman and serving the allied effort during World War II at the central site for British codebreakers at Bletchley Park. It was there that she met Frank "Fran" H. Stanton, the handsome American Serviceman whom she married in 1945.
Although she was predeceased by Fran in 1989, Rosemary is survived by their five children: Victoria "Vanni" of Edgartown, MA; John "Jody" of Nashville, TN; Robert "Robbie" of Greenwich, CT; David of Haiphong, Vietnam and Rebecca "Becky" of Flagstaff, AZ. She is also survived by her brother Michael Ellman-Brown of Hunton, Kent, England; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with more on the way, several nieces and nephews and a couple furry companions. Rosemary was adored by all who knew her.
She will be honored on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at the Chapel at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 6 p.m. and the service will begin at 7 p.m. Memorials can be sent in her name to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203, in loving memory of Rosemary Stanton.
