Stephan Gospodinoff Obituary

Stephan Gospodinoff Jr.
7/29/1963-12/7/22
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Stephan (Steve) M. Gospodinoff, Jr.
Steve, formerly of Cos Cob, CT was born on July 29, 1963 to the late Stephan and Anne (Boccuzzi) Gospodinoff. He attended Greenwich schools and worked for the Town of Greenwich Tree Dept. for over 30 years. Steve started his career with the Town of Greenwich in 1987 as a Tree Climber and he ascended through the positions in the Tree Division with hard work, devotion and confidence. He was promoted to Foreman, Supervisor, Operations Manager and Deputy Tree Warden, the position from which he retired. He encouraged, promoted, and supported professional training, improvement, and certification for Tree Division staff.
Steve was an avid hunter and fisherman, learning the love of outdoors from his father. His dedication to his town had no limits, he would often to go the schools and teach children about being an arborist. Since he was young, Steve had a love for animals. In his line of work he would often find nests of squirrels, racoons, or woodpeckers. He would eagerly take them home to nurse and release into the wild when they were ready.
He is survived by wife Deborah, daughter Heather (Steve) Kossluk, son Michael and sister Jacqueline Gospodinoff,. In addition his 3 grandchildren Sean, Olivia and Logan and his stepchildren April, Krissy and Jimmy. Steve leaves behind many faithful and dependable friends from childhood growing up in Cos Cob and the dear coworkers he made through his many years with the town.
A celebration of life will be held. Details will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity you would like.
