Steven Mann Obituary

STEVEN GEORGE MANN came into this world on July 27, 1982 and left us in early May 2012. Steven was born in California moving to Greenwich in 1984 where he grew up attending The Greenwich Country Day School class of 1998, and graduating from Greenwich High School, class of 2001. Steven thoroughly enjoyed his years at GCDS participating in many school activities while displaying a youthful exuberance that sparked his enduring zest for life and sports. He was a member of the Cos Cob Crushers, the Babe Ruth Youth Baseball program and played hockey for the Greenwich Skating Club , starting with the mite program ending with the Bantams. He also simultaneously participated in all of these sports while attending GCDS. His love of hockey continued at the high school level where he became captain of the 2001 Greenwich Cardinals. "Stevie" was known to all as an avid LA Dodgers fan (inherited from his late dad), New York Giants and of course his beloved New York Rangers - thanks to Dave Maloney. Upon graduation, Steven attended New England College, later transferring to Plymouth State University in New Hampshire . His colorful personality , fun loving nature and infectious laugh were well known traits that endeared him to all and won him many life-long friends who appreciated his warmth, kindness, caring and sensitive nature. He was a true high spirited loyal friend loved by all. Many will remember seeing Steven's infectious smile at McArdles, Bruce Park Sports , Colony Florist and Boys and Girls club where he spent many summers and school vacations working to earn some extra "bucks." Steven leaves behind his loving mother, Andrea Mann and brother, Daniel both of Greenwich and is predeceased by his father, Jerry; He will also be missed by his two half sisters, Laura Eidelsen of San Diego CA.,Allison Darnell of Bothell, Washington and their families, Bruce, Dan, Elizabeth, Jim, Jaimie, Katy and Brooke. Numerous cousins, Aunts and Uncles also share in the sadness of his passing. There will be a "Celebration of Life" in Steven's honor on Friday, May 11th at 6 :30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center of The Greenwich Country Day School. A reception at the school will follow. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Steven G. Mann endowed fund set up by The Greenwich Country Day School, P.O. Box 623 Old Church Road, Greenwich, CT 06836.

Mrs Mann and Daniel,
I just heard about Steve's passing and want to reinforce thet he was a great young man and he will be sorely missed. I coached Steve for a few years in lacrosse and he was our goalie when no one else would do it. He was the goalie for our 6th grade state championship team. He did what had to be done. We will all miss him.

Andrea and Daniel - There are no words to express how much Steven will be missed. He had a gentle strength and warm charisma that are rare in this world. He will always be remembered with great love and respect. In the days that follow, may friends and family help light the way to a place where you find peace and comfort in the memories you share.
