I am so sorry this a year late. I just found out about Will's passing. I only knew Will for 3 weeks. We toured Europe with The Ambassadors of Connecticut together in the summer of 79. Will was the featured trumpet with the concert band while I was the featured trumpet with the jazz band. We had a great time time together. I learned so much from him. He was a beautiful soul!

My condolences to the Saleeby family. Will was a year ahead of me on Harvard’s football team. We practiced together as running backs/receivers. He was a gentleman, fierce competitor, terrific athlete and dedicated player who always gave 100%. He was an inspiration to me and everyone on the team. Rest in Peace, Will.

My brother Joe Schiano met Will in Central Middle School, and on to GHS . I got to know Will especially when he came to go swimming in our pool on Cognewaugh Rd. He was a great person, very athletic and just a wonderful being.. I was so sad to hear of Wills passing and extend my deepest condolences to the family on mine and my brothers behalf. My brother passed away on Dec.28 last year, so I understand the loss..I know he would of been sad as well cause they became good friends..

Hearing of this really tragic news makes me feel angry and upset. I have a lot of happy recollections of Will. He is a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime person. To name a few, they are inspirational, kind, and compassionate.

To the whole Saleeby family we all spent such wonderful times at Diamond Hill. I have so many memories of Will. He was my first crush.I believe we performed an oboe and trumpet duet at church. I was just a girl but I loved him so. I am so terribly bereft and I haven't seen him in years. Please accept my deep heart felt condolences. He will live on in many, many hearts.

So painful to hear about the tragic death of Will. I knew him in junior high school and he was so kind, talented and gifted. What a huge loss. I can still hear him singing at Central Junior High in the musical, Oklahoma! He was effusive with a love for life.

Vesta, Amy and the rest of the Saleeby's, My mom and I were so terribly sad to hear of Will's passing. I practically grew up in your warm and loving household -- of which I hold so many fond memories! It's no surprise that Will became so amazingly accomplished in life. Our hearts hurt for you.

Dear Saleeby Family:
My deepest condolences to all of you on Will´s passing from this life.
I am deeply saddened, but am thankful for his friendship and many wonderful memories:
wrestling with him in gym class (it was like wrestling a boulder... he won, of course),
an overnight trip to Long Island with his Dad,
sleepover at the Saleeby home,
jazz ensemble and concert band performances, and more.
I loved him like a brother and will miss him. Please be assured of my prayers for him and for all of you.
"For I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

My deepest sympathy to the Saleeby family. I was a member of the Darien High School football team back and most notably in 1979. The Greenwich Cardinals were fierce. I will always remember Will as one of the toughest players we faced on the field and the gentleman that he was off the field. He inspired all of us for all of these years since then.

I did not know Will Saleeby, although I knew of his legacy as a fellow Cardinal football player. He was Coach Ornato's favorite player of all the players he coached. "Probably pound for pound as tough a guy that's played here." He broke his good arm in the '79 FCIAC championship game and continued to play anyway! Will lived a very accomplished life that was tragically cut short. I wish I had known him. My condolences to all his loved ones.
