Condolences to the families of Fr. Jack Niland; our fond memories of Fr. Jack as our pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Santa Rita, Guam will live forever in our hearts. Fr. Jack was our "Chicken Soup for the Soul" when he speaks to the people during his homilies. He was an intelligent, heartwarming, compassionate and dedicated individual. We will surely miss you Fr. Jack. God has given you his everlasting peace and blessing. Adios, Fr. Jack and Si Yuus Maase.

My Dear Friend Fr. Jack, taught me the meaning of true friendship. He was not only my best friend, mentor, and confidant he was someone I really enjoyed spending time with. No matter what we were doing, whether we were together or talking from a distance life felt like it had a purpose. He had a way of balancing life's ups and downs and inspite of everything, made us aware that life is a precious gift to be cherished and that we should all be greatful for everything life bestows on us. Thank you my Friend for always looking out for me and my family when you were here and I know you're looking out for us from Heaven. I miss you and I wish you were still with us, but like you said, God has plans for all of us and we are all were we should be. I will remember you for as long as I can because I know that "Death is not in passing but in the forgetfulness."

Father Jack will always be remembered as having very great sermons relating to the gospel reading. One in particular was "Little Johnny" who was supposively be "Superman" during one of the school's program. His teacher kept calling for Little Johnny and then gave up and tried calling him Superman. Still Little Johnny or Superman did not respond. His teacher then asked why wasn't he responding. Little Johnny then whispered in his teacher's ear "shhh...I'm Clark Kent now".
Father Jack, thanks for being what you were and may you rest in peace!

May you rest in peace Father Jack. A big many thanks for all you did for so many during your time on earth. Especially for the time you were with us in Mount Carmel School. We will always cherish the laughter, closiness, and stern moments of descipline. Your presence and mentoring has made an impact on where we are today. You will be forever remembered by many especially by your Mount Carmel School family.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

“I’m at peace…”, “Remember the happy times…”, “I am ready…”, “Gods will be done…”, ”God’s been good to me and he still is because you are here with me today…”, “Thank you for being a part of my life…”. These are just a few of the many words Fr. Jack had said to me during my last visit with Fr. Jack a few weeks before he passed away.
Today you were laid to rest and as you embark on your journey to heaven I just want you to know.
I am at a peace with your passing. I am ready to move on and continue to remember the happy times we shared. God has been good to me because I was blessed to have met you and I know you will always be watching over us. THANK YOU for being a very important and influential part of my life. It is God’s will that we will all meet again.

In July, I saw Father Jack for the last time. During my visit he said to me..."I had a great life, a great, wonderful life."We are the reason why he had a great life. Even in his last days, Father was graceful and very very strong - still joking, drinking his favorite beverage, and sharing great stories. Father Jack will be missed dearly. He will forever be in our hearts. Adios Pale Jack...til we meet again.

Though many are called, few are chosen. God calls us by name in life to be good christians, just as he calls us at the end of our life to an everlasting happiness with him. But for the special, the chosen, God calls them to give up all material possessions and serve the Lord. Father Jack spent most of his life as a servant to God by spreading his love through faith, actions, good counsel, and a joy of life. He touched so many lives thoughout the US, across the ocean, family to family, and generation to generation. Even upon the imminent arrival of his death, he offered hope, solace, and humor to those left behind. His legacy will live on in our hearts and our families. He will continue to watch over us from above and smile upon our accomplishments and trials. He will always be with us in our hearts and spirits. Today, rejoice in his journey to Heaven, free from pain and sorrow. And when it is our time, we will soar up to Heaven, anxious to see him again. And when St. Peter opens the gates, our first glimpse of Father will probably be of him smiling, chatting with Jesus, sharing a Coors Light, and waving the GUAM Flag in welcome. TILL WE MEET AGAIN!!!

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
You have my sincere condolences on the loss of your father.
We are deeply saddened by your loss. We will cherish the memories of the times we spent together. We are with you during this time of grief.
Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Father Jack Niland was a wonderful priest always setting selfless goals in order to serve the community where ever he was assigned and has especially achieved this with our great village people both young and old of Hagat. It has been a blessing and true honor to have worked and served as alter boy along side other friends and relatives for Father jack back in the day. Father was not just our parish priest..He was our true Friend, Mentor, and Teacher as well. Always compassionate and went out of his way to help people and provide wisdom and superb guidance. Because of Father I have learned the meaning and importance of family values which continues to keep us strong. I will always remember to do what Father advised me to do on the phone several weeks ago.."Remember the Happy Times".."I AM at Peace"..He was really happy to be a part of our lives. He will sorely be missed. Even with all the suffering he endured he always managed to brighten your day with laughter and good spirits. We will always love you Father and only say bye for now until we meet again.
