Paw Paw as he was affectionately known, was the oldest of 5 children and often cared for 3 of them while his mom and dad worked. Life was difficult for them as it was for many folks back then. His family moved from Philadelphia, MS to Moss Point where he attended and graduated from Moss Point High School. While there he participated in baseball and basketball. He pitched the first No Hitter Baseball Game in Moss Point's history. It did not matter that he was small in stature, because he played every game with heart and talent! As a young man he attended University of Southern Mississippi where he was 12 hours away from getting his degree, when he felt the need to work full time. He was a loan officer for Commercial Credit Corp. and several other financial institutions and enjoyed the challenge of the business world, later becoming an insurance agent. He really loved the people he served as it brought him great joy! It was at this time that he developed a strong love for golf which lasted him the rest of his life! He loved his sons and took great pride in them. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, teaching his oldest granddaughter how to play golf. He was not a man who cared much for travel, he liked being at home. Along with his parents , he is preceded in death by his son, Marty Blake Culberson; sisters, Shirley Culberson Soles, Becky Culberson Brister, and Charlotte Culberson Jones; nieces, Karen Jones Huddleston and Pam Jones.
