Frank Bugner Obituary

Frank Bugner, 91, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Wednesday morning, December 21, 2022, at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The son of Michael and Rosa Marie (Blasi) Bugner, he was born October 13, 1931, in Goddard, Kansas. Frank graduated from high school with the Class of 1950 in Texhoma, Oklahoma. While taking a break during farming one afternoon, he and his close friend decided they'd better enlist in the Navy before they were drafted. So, Frank joined the U. S. Navy, serving in the Korean War, and he was honorably discharged in 1954.

On December 17, 1966, Frank married the love of his life, Ann (Barker) Bugner. He was a partner in the Boot Barn and Boot Corral in Guymon for many years, where he made a multitude of lifelong friends and business relationships. Boots and shoes in the Guymon area haven't been the same since Frank retired from the work he loved as a "cobbler."

Frank never met a stranger, as it was always his goal to make someone laugh. He dearly loved his coffee shop buddies, many of whom called him "Main Man," and he continued to drive himself to the coffee shop twice a day well after his 90th birthday. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. His main hobby in his retirement years was his expert woodworking. His skills with wood were second to none, as anyone who has been blessed with a piece of his work will attest.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Virgie Barker; two sisters Mildred (Millie) Kampling and Norma Jean (Norm) Bestgen; brothers-in-law, James Kampling, James Bestgen, Monte Ferrell, James Hartman, Gene Barker, Jerald Barker; sister-in-law Beulah (Barker) Thornton; and one grandson Garet Hawkins. Frank's brother, Eugene Bugner survived him three days, passing away on Christmas morning.

Survivors include his wife Ann of Guymon; four daughters Connie (Roy) Hawkins and Cathy Macormic of Guymon; Cheryl (Tom) Widman of Reno, Nevada; and Starla Affatati(Ziggy Torok) of Lake Elsinore, California. Grandchildren include Kyle and Sally Hawkins of Guymon; Tarin and Brandon Sinnes of Edmond; Krista and Scott Preston of Rose Hill, KS;Gianni and Kyleigh Affatati of Redlands, California; Vincent and Catherine Affatati of Yucaipa, California; Great grandchildren include, Hoke, Caroline, and Hart Hawkins; Henry Sinnes; and Sydnee, Taytum, Brystol, and Swayzie Preston. Frank is also survived by two sisters, Bert Hartman of Denver, Colorado, and Marilyn Ferrell of Texhoma, Texas; and two sisters-in-law, Darlene Bugner of Great Bend, Kansas and Virgie (Barker) Lawson of Guymon.

Memorial services with Navy Honors will be held Friday, December 30, at 2:00 pm at the Guymon Presbyterian Church.

Services are under the care of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
