Ned Bleuer Obituary

Ned K. Bleuer, born in 1943 in Oak Park, IL, passed away on November 11, 2025, surrounded by family in Green Valley, AZ.
Ned was the son of Keith and Janice Bleuer and is survived by his wife, Caroline Kay Bleuer; sister, Betsy Bleuer and her daughter, Anna Bleuer; sons, T. Cory Bleuer (sp. Jennifer) and Matt Bleuer (sp. Rocio); grandson, Kenneth Bleuer; stepson, Greg Melvin (sp. Vida), and their children, Jordan Melvin (sp. Laila) and Ona Melvin.
Ned grew up in Roselle, IL and Neenah, WI and graduated from Neenah H.S. Ned attended college at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he received undergraduate and PhD degrees in geological sciences, and he received his master's degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He spent his career as a glacial geologist with the Indiana geological survey at Indiana University and was the surveyor, author and co-author behind numerous research publications related to Midwestern U.S. geology and geomorphology. While with Indiana University, he lived in Bloomington, Indiana and Nashville, Indiana and later moved to Green Valley, AZ following retirement in 2006.
Ned, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hiking, cycling, kayaking and canoeing (including canoe racing, often with his then-young sons), and traveling with his family. He was also an avid train enthusiast, guitar player and photographer. Ned was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease over a decade ago and fought it with courage and resilience until his passing.
A close family memorial service will be held to celebrate Ned's life. The family encourages those that wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the Parkinson's Support Group of Green Valley, AZ or The Parkinson's Foundation in Ned's remembrance.
