Richard "Dick" Melchiorre

1939 - 2025

Dick was the youngest son of Gladys and John Melchiorre. He and older brothers John Jr. and Donald grew up in Cincinnati where he attended College Hill Grade School, Hughes High School, Hanover College and received his BA in Economics from the University of Cincinnati in 1960. He was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He was a fan of OSU and Cincinnati teams.
He volunteered for the draft after graduation and served two years in the Army. He married his college sweetheart, Wilma Baldwin, on September 22, 1962 and they were married for 61 years. Wilma passed on September 14th, 2023. Their family included son Erik (1968) and daughter Claudine (1972).
Dick operated his father's super market 1964-1969 after his father had several heart attacks. He worked for John Sexton Food Service Co. 1969-1994 and job promotions took him and his family from coast to coast, ending up in San Francisco. He and Wilma moved to Denver in 1996, where he worked for MultiFoods, before they retired to Green Valley, AZ where they lived for 20 years.
In Green Valley he was a member and officer of the Bocce Club, a 15 year volunteer at the White Elephant Thrift Store and a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 131. It was through the GVR Singles Club that he met Gail White and they shared many happy moments in the final chapter of his life.
Dick died at home on November 13th, 2025. He leaves behind his son, Erik; daughter, Claudine; and 4 beautiful granddaughters: Bailey, Darwin, Skylar and Gabrieilla. He requested no formal memorial services but it would be fitting if you shared a joke or a hug with a friend in his memory.
