William Martin Obituary
Dr. Martin was born in Anderson, South Carolina on July 1st, 1941. He was a graduate of Boys High in Anderson, SC, and attended the Citadel in Charleston, SC. He was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Martin was a flight surgeon in Vietnam, as a Captain in the U.S. Army.
Upon returning home, Dr. Martin completed his residency and internship in the Emory-VA-Grady Health System. He practiced medicine in Gwinnett County for 52 years. In 2002, he founded his life's work, Hope Clinic.
When not dedicating his time to serving others, he could be found enjoying the company of his wife and two dogs, Sierra and Marlie, watching college football or the Atlanta Braves, pursuing his education in medicine, and working out. He dedicated the early hours of every morning to studying the teaching and becoming closer to Christ.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, in the Lawrenceville Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home.
Dr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Sloan and Aldene Martin; and brother, Dr. Sloan Martin, M.D.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Martin of Lawrenceville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jim Brennan of Morris, CT and Jessica and Jesse Geller of Dacula, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Karen Thompson of Atlanta, GA; son, William B. Martin, Jr. of Richmond, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melania Martin of Costa Rica; grandchildren, Jay Mooney, Ansley Wingate, Nicholas Brennan, Savannah Thompson, Kylie Geller, Aiden Thompson, Alaina Geller, and Teagan Thompson; great-grandson, Owen Williams (Bo); sister-in-law, Ola Martin of Easley, SC; nephews, Sloan Martin, III of Duluth, GA and Kevin Martin of Washington, D.C.; the most wonderful staff and patients.
The family will receive friends 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road SW, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046. 770.962.3100.

Billy Martin as I knew him, was my godfather. We lost contact for many years, then reconnected! He came to my wedding and I came to his! Then we lost contact again. He was always so special to me. I still have the first Barbie he gave me! I would so much
like to be in touch with the family. I would`ve come to the funeral but did not know.

Met Billy in med school,became real friends.Always liked the study with him cause he was so smart.Grew apart due to multiple factors but recently reunited.Caring,smart,great doc.Sort of a doctors doctor.His Hope clinic years speak of his character and dedication.Miss ya,Spooky

I'm deeply saddened to hear the loss of the best Dr I've ever had. Not only did he care for you health wise but he cared for you as a person. He would go to any lengths to get the help you needed. I've never had a Dr who would call me personally to see how I was doing. I'll miss him praying with me and always hugging me and telling me he loved me and truly meaning it. My condolences to his family and all the wonderful staff at Hope Clinic. Go rest high on the mountain Dr Martin for you surly worked for the love of your patience. I'm at loss for words on how much I will miss you. My heart is broken. Their will never be another Dr like you.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Martin. I have been a patient of the Hope Clinic for a number of years.
My thoughts go out to his family and his dedicated, caring staff. I know they will miss him greatly, but no doubt his staff will carry on his legacy through the Hope Clinic.
Please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss.
I will always remember Dr. Martin as a kind, caring person.
