Family-Placed Obituary


CROSS-SMITH, Betty Lynne Age 59 of Oxford passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 8:00 A.M. She was born in Iron River, Michigan on May 27, 1947 the daughter of Leonard and Iona (Wills) Huff. Betty was employed as an activities assistant at Westover Retirement Community and was a member of Millville Avenue Church of God for over thirty years. In February 1967 she married William G. Cross Jr., and he preceded her in death in 1994; in June 1997 she married Craig Smith in Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, Craig Smith of Oxford; one son, Greg Cross and his wife Debi of Hamilton; one daughter, Gretchen Colwell and her husband Chris of Hamilton; stepson, Joshua Smith of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, Emily Cross, Amanda Schultz, and Grant Colwell; one brother, David Huff and his wife Bernice of Trenton; three sisters, Sonja Huseby of Wausau, Wisconsin, Becky Taylor and her husband Bruce and Tessa Priser and her husband Bob, both of Middletown; three stepbrothers, James Sprinkle, Michael Sprinkle, both of Trenton, and Roger Sprinkle and his wife Bonnie of Middletown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, William G. Cross Jr. Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 12:30 P.M. with Pastor Gary W. Bennett of Millville Avenue Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.

what a wonderful service to remember Lynne. I'm sure she was smiling from heaven , she would have been so proud of Craig, Gretchen and Greg for the wonderful things you said about her. the songs and readings were perfect. her presence will be so missed, but it is good to hear that you will work to continue the family unit, b/c I know how important that was to her. she will never be forgotten !! we love you all.
