Tony, Angela, Brenda, Carlene was like a big sister to me and you all have always been family to me. Boy will I miss that laugh and smile. I remember her coming into church smiling to everyone like royalty. I never knew anyone who enjoyed life more than Carlene and I am so grateful to our LORD that she now has eternal life. I know she is with JESUS smiling bigger than ever. The comfort is in knowing we will see her again! May GOD continue to bless and keep you, and know that we are here for you always. All our love and prayers, Carol, Chris, Justin.

Ms. Cox was like a second mother to me. She was an extraordinary person with a compassion spirit, and she always put others first. I will never forget her friendly smile and her home cook meals with family
gathering. I will truly miss her. My home is always open to you and your family. I will keep you in my prayers.

I was very saddened to hear of Carline's passing. Her witty personality is something I will never forget. Her work with the NAACP was commendable and will surely speak for itself. She always had a ticket for you! (smile) Brenda, Tony and Angela, my heart goes out to you at this time. The loss of your mother has brought sadness, but remember her legacy and love will remain in your hearts forever.
Your parents are together once again. I pray that God will strengthen you and keep you in his care. Sincerely,
Rose and Joyce

Angie, Brenda, Tony and Johnson-Cox relatives: First, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to you all. "Miss Carlene" (who made us laugh so often then fed you till your belly was full!) will be greatly missed; she and Mr. Louie shared so much throughout this city. They were a team; they possessed many talents and a camaderie that only they could possess. Mr. Louie and Miss Carlene are, again, joined together.
To the Cox offspring, grandchildren great-grandchild(ren), and other relatives, know one thing: no matter what, "family" was important to them both, and they loved you dearly; I encourage you to hold your memories close to your heart for no one can take them from you. If there is anything my family and I can assist you with, you know how to contact us. We love you and have you all in our prayers.
Finally, remember: This battle is NOT yours--it's the Lord's!

To the Cox family,
My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Carline and Louis Cox.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to know and worked with them throughout our community. They touched mine and many other hearts through their sincere involvement with both the Middletown Habitat for Humanity and our local NAACP. They were outstanding citizens of Middletown and will be missed by all who knew them.

Your mother will be truly missed. The City has lost one of its greatest assets. We will enjoy the memories of time spent and days gone by. The world is a better place because of her love that she shared. Because of her we now know the true meaning kindness, understanding and love. I know I’m a better person because of the love she had shown me and I will truly miss her.

To the Family of Carlene Johnson Cox ... We were saddened to hear of Carlene's passing. She was a very ambitious and hardworking young lady. Carlene was one of the NAACP's best ticket sellers and supporters. Not only were Carlene and Louie assets to our community, they were quite talented performers. Their role in the Bucktown, Cloverdale, North End Reunion play left a lasting impression on all who were in attendance. Their memory will be forever etched in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy to their wonderful family. Rest in peace, Carlene!

God is your watchman and may He continue to observe in righteousness like He has while these trailblazers Carlene and Louie whom fought many trials and tribulations for the African American communities in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio, and the U.S.A. Carlene and Louie rest in peace and may your spirits help us continue to fight bigotry and terrorism since you have met with the Prince of Peace.
