HACKER, Charles Bernard Charles Bernard Hacker, age 85 of Fairfield passed away at Sterling House of Fairfield on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 2:50 PM. He was born in Hamilton on November 14, 1922 the son of John and Miranda (Johnson) Hacker. Chuck was a veteran of the US Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was employed as boiler plant manager at Champion Paper for approximately 33 years, retiring in 1988. Chuck was President of Hacks Sports Specialties, a member of the Cincinnati and Butler County Bowling Halls of Fame, and invented the thumbillow for bowling balls. He was known as the King of TV Bowling and was a member of Richmond Road Baptist Church. On July 9, 1947 in Hamilton he married Arline Jane Hecht, and she preceded him in death in 1997. He is survived by two sons, Charles K. Hacker of Fairfield and James E. Hacker of Hamilton; a daughter, Karen J. (Dave) Botos of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Chad, Shannon, Davey, and Jonathan; a brother, John "Gabby" (Mae) Hacker of Hamilton; three sisters, Vikie (Knute) Wagonfield, Norma Johns, and Peggy (Thomas) Fowler, all of Hamilton; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Hacker of Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim Hacker. Chuck will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
