Family-Placed Obituary


MORNER, Earlene Weeks Born December 18, 1918, died in Hamilton, Ohio, November 13, 2004 at the age of 85. A former church organist, director of children's church choirs, and teacher of music and general studies at Reily School, she will be remembered by generations of students for her devotion to both the beauty of music and the importance of a life-long curiosity for learning. During her 20- year elementary teaching career Mrs. Morner was active in the Talawanda Teacher's Organization and Oxford and Mariemont's Women's Music Clubs. She was a former member of the Mariemont Community Church in Cincinnati, the Oxford Presbyterian Church and, recently of the Grace Methodist Church of Hamilton. Preceded in death by daughter, Dianne Tahse, and brother, Lloyd Weeks, Earlene Weeks Morner is survived by husband, James Louis Morner, of Hamilton; children, Shirley Taylor, Carl Morner, Peggy Lyman, Ellen Groves, and Wendy Alfers; and sisters Mildred Adams and Barbara Parsons. Fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren will miss Grandma Morner. Funeral services were held at on Tuesday November 17 at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home. Donations may be sent to the Oxford Parkinson's Support Group, P.O. Box 351, Oxford, OH 45056.

I have many fond memories of the Oxford Presbyterian Children's Choir and of afternoons in the Morner living room playing chamber music. She was a great lady and will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
